Originally this Kensington property incorporated five shabby flats which were completely transformed into a single family home. The staircase was moved to create better sized rooms and was enhanced by a large glazed lantern to allow the sunlight to penetrate the stairwell. The kitchen was relocated to the lower level so that it related to the rear garden area. New modern bathrooms throughout and attention to detailing make this property’s’ original character stand out.

St. Julian’s Farm Road – This large scale house based in Streatham was enhanced by a stepped rear extension. The interior was opened out and the kitchen relocated to create a new kitchen living space. The purpose made rear joinery was deliberately designed to be chunky and substantial. This traditional town house in Pimlico has benefited from two visits by Barnes Design. Firstly, a complete re-design that spanned the rear of three levels and therefore re-planned all the interior spaces it affected. Secondly, a traditional mansard roof extension that created two smaller rooms and an additional bathroom.

A top floor flat above a commercial unit and the busy High Street junction required an oasis. The brief entailed ensuring the new roof terrace was as organic and atmospherically lit as possible.
